Datchet Update

A new simpler initial rail services plan, with the same number of trains as at present, means that there will be no need for an underpass at Datchet.  Future increases in rail utilisation could also be accomodated with improvements in signalling, meaning a maintenance or reduction in level crossing downtimes.

National services using the line more heavily are a long way into the future.  However, the Windsor Link Railway remains open to supporting either an underpass or a bypass, depending on the wishes of residents.  The policy of WLR both in Datchet and elsewhere remains that any improvements to national travel, e.g. to and from Heathrow, must also be matched by improvements in local travel and the environment, e.g. within an affected town, on the basis of fairness.  That is, the WLR will always bring a net benefit to every town and villiage it passes through.
