The Windsor Link Railway is the first stage in a scheme for improving transport west of London. It includes linking the historic Great Western and Southern rail regions as well as connecting Heathrow and HS2 to the west by rail.
For the national rail network, it improves the efficience of our rail infrastructure and brings schems such as Crossrail and HS2 within easy reach of more peope.
For Windsor, it restores and improves the riverside environment, Alexandra Gardens and views of the castle. The town's major problem, car traffic congestion, is addressed with new park-and-ride facilities and Chalvey and Poyle (off the M4 and M25 respectively). It also improves access for tourism and other local businesses.
