Steve Baker, the MP for Wycombe, has added his support to the Windsor Link Railway, commenting:
Labour figures have been reportedly secretly considering an alternative route to HS2 for a new north-south link. The route itself is no secret, re-opening the Great Central line, Britain’s last main line and scandalously closed by Beeching despite being the most profitable in the country and capable of taking modern container sizes.
The Windsor Link Railway (WLR), when built, will be the first privately-led new railway for over 100 years.
It is a for-profit company but it is not just about profit; its social aims include preserving our heritage, improving our environment, improving standards of living for local residents, increasing social mobility and providing economic growth and employment. More...
