The Windsor Link Railway (WLR) when built will be the first privately funded addition to the core network for over 100 years.

It is a for-profit company but it is not just about profit; its social aims include preserving our heritage, improving our environment, improving standards of living for local residents, increasing social mobility and creating economic growth and employment.

The company is currently working on forming a joint venture that will bring various stakeholders together, from both the public and private sectors, to take the project forward.

General directions

By road

  • From M4 leave at junction 6 and follow signs for A332 Windsor
  • As you go down the dual carriageway take the first exit off to your left signposted to Windsor Castle
  • Go down the slip road to the roundabout and take the first exit left into Maidenhead Road
  • Keep going straight ahead through 3 sets of traffic lights past the Co-Op on your right, into Arthur Road and continue until reaching a roundabout
  • Take the first exit left into Goswell Road signposted Datchet B470
  • Go under the railway arches and bear right at the end of this road with the River Thames on your left
  • Shortly after this, corner on your right is a restaurant called Browns
  • Following this road, pass through a set of pedestrian traffic lights and then following the road around bear left onto Thames Avenue.
  • At next set of traffic lights, turn left onto Thames Street. Gainsborough House is the third building on your right. NB This is a pedestrianized road with no parking
  • For parking, take the following left, Farm Yarm, just before Riverside train station or the left after that, Romney Lock Road (which usually has more space)
  • For getting back to the office, follow the directions from Windsor & Eton Riverside station

By public transport

By train:

From Waterloo and south of London, Windsor and Eton Riverside train station is only a 2 minute walk.

  • On leaving the station, with the Royal Oak pub on your left and the castle high on your left, walk towards the town centre.
  • At next set of traffic lights, turn right into Thames Street. Gainsborough House is the third building on your right.

From central London or the Thames Valley, Windsor and Eton Central train station is a 5 minute walk.

  • On leaving the station platform, walk up through the shopping centre until you come to the main road in front of the castle
  • Turn left, keeping the castle on your right, and go downhill on Thames Street until you arrive at some traffic lights
  • Cross at the junction and Gainsborough House is the third building on your right after the lights.

By air:

Heathrow airport is a 20 minute taxi journey from our offices.

By bus:

The nearest bus stops are at Thames Street and the High Street. Then follow the directions from Windsor Central station.
