Better rail services are important for the people of Surrey Heath. This is why I am encouraged to see proposals such as the Windsor Link Railway, which would make it easier to connect Farnborough, Camberley and Bagshot direct to Heathrow as well as to the Thames Valley.
Rt Hon Michael Gove, MP for Surrey Heath
I want better rail services for the residents of Windsor, Ascot and Bracknell. It’s therefore encouraging to see the Windsor Link Railway making progress. From my experience in business, I know that efficiency – and thus economic growth – comes from getting the small things right, so it is good to see a private company doing its bit.
Adam Afriyie, MP for Windsor
I have long argued both locally and nationally that the Crossrail plans need to include Bracknell. That is why I am particularly encouraged by the Windsor Link Railway which will facilitate this. I also welcome the fact this project will be financed and led by the private sector, thus relieving the burden on taxpayers and creating an incentive to drive down fares.
Dr Phillip Lee, MP for Bracknell
I wish to see better services for rail users in my constituency. We are short of capacity at peaks, and face high fares and a shortage of seats. I welcome moves to increase capacity to assist, especially where this can be done using private capital to cut the costs on the taxpayer.
Rt Hon John Redwood, MP for Wokingham
Good train services from Maidenhead and Twyford to London are crucial, both for commuters who live in the local area and for local businesses. That’s why I welcome proposals from the Windsor Link Railway, which could potentially provide much quicker journey times to south London and Waterloo...[more]
Rt Hon Theresa May, MP for Maidenhead
We desperately need better infrastructure that serves the public good. That’s why the kind of investment that built our great railway network should be encouraged. Such investment would be profit-making with commercial risks borne by entrepreneurs, not taxpayers. The Windsor Link proposal must not be neglected.
