By offering an alternative route to Heathrow, without going via Staines Moor, the WLR preserves this site of special scientific interest
Better train links will reduce pressure on the roads, making car journeys better too. The lower cost of WLR means that we could afford to replace the level crossings in Staines and Egham, further improving traffic flow.
The WLR aims to be privately financed. This would reduce the burden on the taxpayer. Also, giving private investors a stake in the operation of the new transport infrastructure creates an incentive for them to make maximum use of the capital employed, meaning potentially more services for residents as well as for downward pressure on costs and hence fares
