The Windsor Express has reported that a ‘Senior councillor warns a solution to Windsor’s traffic woes are still a way off’.

The Royal Borough’s cabinet member for highways and transport has praised residents for their patience but admits they may have to wait for a resolution to the town’s traffic chaos.

He told the forum that results had been ‘inconclusive’ from last year’s three month consultation which asked residents whether they would like to see lights removed at the junctions of Clewer Hill Road and St Leonards Road, and Winkfield Road and Clewer Hill Road…

Cllr Colin Rayner (Con, Horton and Wraysbury) said: “After having two very robust and interesting consultation evenings we came to the conclusion that we didn’t want to rush what we were planning to do.

“It has given us a great deal of information about what we need to do but the conclusion was inconclusive.”

This difficulty of solving the traffic problem around Windsor is part of the reason for the Windsor Link Railway. Phase 1, will remove an estimated 7,000 cars a day from the roads. It will also make train journeys from Ascot to Windsor practical for the first time, making a significant contribution to unblocking our roads.
