Steve Baker, the MP for Wycombe, has added his support to the Windsor Link Railway, commenting:

We desperately need better infrastructure that serves the public good. That’s why the kind of investment that built our great railway network should be encouraged. Such investment would be profit-making with commercial risks borne by entrepreneurs, not taxpayers. The Windsor Link proposal must not be neglected.

The old railway line from High Wycombe to Maidenhead has been reserved in the council’s local plan. Although this has been reserved as a cycle or foot path, WLR understands from the council that this is to preserve it so that should deliverable plans come forward to restore it, the line won’t be built over. Once WLR phase 1 is built, the business case for opening this line will be much stronger and make an important next step in restoring orbital rail links to the west of London.
