The Windsor Link Railway has today received some initial advice from the Planning Inspectorate regarding the formal planning process that the project will go through.

Phase 1 of the Windsor Link Railway, linking Slough to Staines via Windsor, provides under one mile of new railway and will therefore not be a project of national significance. This means that the likely application process will be via the Transport and Works Act 2008.

Phase 2, linking to Heathrow, on the other hand clearly does satisfy the criteria for a nationally significant infrastructure project (NSIP). It would therefore be approved via the National Infrastructure Planning Process.
