The Windsor Facelift

In preparation for the Queen's jubilee people of Windsor and Eton, led by the Windsor and Eton Society, worked hard to give their town a 'facelift' improving the look of the town and restoring buildings to their former glory. Yesterday we saw some of the results of that work as the Earl of Wessex gave awards to the people behind some of the best restorations - a difficult task given that over 160 buildings took part. The Windsor and Eton society have very kindly [...]

According to GVA, one of the UK's largest independent property consultants, property prices along the Crossrail route will increase by 25%. That's great news for towns such as Maidenhead and Slough. It's also great news for Windsor as it demonstrates the value that can be created by better transport infrastructure, not just for jobs but also for house owners. The Windsor Link Railway would have an even greater effect on house prices in Windsor with the triple benefits of faster links to south London, [...]

At the full council meeting last week the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead approved its new Local Transport Plan. This is a very thick document but the relevant section, on page 73, lists three options for a new rail link connecting Heathrow to the borough. Transport hub ideas dovetail with WLR proposals

2012-05-12T18:04:56+00:00May 12th, 2012|Tags: |

Last week's Royal Borough Observer not only reported the news that over 100 local companies had backed the WLR , it also revealed ideas from the West Windsor Residents Association for a new transport hub.  This would be on land currently occupied by construction workers' caravans during improvements to the dual carriageway. WLR has proposed something very similar but rather than using a Green Belt site just off the Jubilee River, it has proposed the site of the current tip, just north of the [...]
